Glossary term
A virtual model of a real object, system or process, kept in sync with data from the real one.
A digital twin is a virtual copy of a real object or system, such as a jet engine, a factory or a city, kept up to date with live sensor data. Engineers run tests and predictions on the twin instead of the real thing. AI can learn from the twin or help it predict failures.
Digital twins let organizations test changes and spot problems without risking the real system.
