Glossary term
The examples a model learns from during training.
Training data is the set of examples a model learns from: text, images, audio, code or labelled records. A model can only learn patterns that are present in its data.
Quality matters as much as size. Errors, duplicates, bias or private information in the data can all show up in the model's behavior.
Questions about where training data came from, how it was cleaned and who owns it sit at the center of AI quality, safety and copyright debates.
