Glossary term
The result of training: a mathematical system that takes inputs and produces predictions or generated outputs.
A model is the thing training produces: a set of learned numbers plus the structure that uses them. Give it an input and it returns a prediction or generated output.
The same model design can be trained on different data to produce different models, and one trained model can be saved and reused many times.
When news says a company 'released a model', this is what they mean: a trained file of weights that can be run to get answers.
