AI designed for a specific task, as opposed to general intelligence.
Narrow AI is built for a specific task or set of tasks, such as recommending videos, detecting fraud or playing chess. It can be superhuman at that task while being unable to do anything else.
All widely deployed AI today is narrow, even though large models are becoming increasingly general.
The contrast with general intelligence helps separate present systems from speculative ones.
