Optical character recognition: converting images of text into machine-readable text.
Optical character recognition finds text in an image, such as a scanned page, receipt or road sign, and converts it to editable characters. Modern systems use deep learning and can read many fonts and layouts.
Vision-language models can also read and reason about the text they see.
