Glossary term
Search that matches on meaning rather than exact keywords.
Semantic search matches the meaning of a query to the meaning of documents, using embeddings, rather than looking for the same words. A search for 'cheap places to stay' can return pages about 'budget hotels'.
Many systems combine semantic and keyword search for the best of both.
It makes search feel like it understands what you meant.
