Glossary term
Software that helps construct or verify formal mathematical proofs.
A theorem prover is software that helps build, or automatically finds, formal mathematical proofs and checks them for correctness. Some are interactive, guided by a person, while others search for proofs automatically. Examples include Lean, Coq and Isabelle.
They provide near-certain verification of proofs and are now being combined with AI to find them.
