A field-programmable gate array: a chip whose circuits can be reconfigured after manufacture.
A field-programmable gate array is a chip whose wiring can be reconfigured after it is made, so the same hardware can be set up to implement different circuits.
FPGAs sit between flexible CPUs and fixed-function ASICs, and are used for low-latency inference and prototyping.
They are useful when you need custom hardware behavior without building a new chip.
